On Monday, I was very fortunate to attend the Sky Campus in Osterley with The Final Whistle.

As part of the training day, I participated in three workshops which covered breaking news stories, vertical videos and a Q&A with Senior Producers for Sky Sports F1. 

The vertical videos session left me reeling with ways I could better engage with audiences through graphics, music and an emphasis on certain words when I speak.

With that in mind, this week I filmed a video ahead of Brighton Women’s opening Subway Players Cup match against Charlton Athletic, which can be watched below.

I’m really pleased with the outcome and plan to make more short-form content like this alongside my Media Matchday Vlogs to showcase my presenting and production abilities. 

I also thoroughly enjoyed discussing all things Women’s Super League with Alex Henderson and Nia Wyn Thomas, learning about the preparations behind their coverage of the English top flight. 

Following the workshops and campus tour, the day concluded with a panel discussion from Sara Chenery, Kate Anastasi, Helen Falkus, Jane Ronchetti and Hattie Jackson. It was really reassuring to hear about the set-backs each of the panel faced, and how their resilience and endless passion for sport saw them land their roles at Sky. 

I also valued the advice of taking time to celebrate achievements rather than always looking to the next thing. I find it easy to get caught up in endless lists of content I want to produce ASAP, but pausing to reflect is really important.
