Brighton hold fond memories at the Amex | Sussex World

Brighton manager Dario Vidošić spoke to the media ahead of the Seagulls hosting Leicester in the Women’s Super League (WSL).

The 38-year-old gave a positive update on midfielder Fran Kirby, who missed the Seagulls’ League Cup fixture on Wednesday through sickness.

“Fran was back in today which was positive. She got through the session so we’ll just see again how she responds from the session.

“We’ll assess everyone again tomorrow after the last session leading into the weekend, but we got through Wednesday okay.”

Unfortunately, Under-19s midfielder Tahirah Heron was stretchered off during Brighton’s 1-0 defeat to Charlton on Wednesday evening.

Vidošić said on the teenager’s injury: “I’m just waiting for the report back on that but I imagine she’ll be ineligible to play this weekend… I think it’s her hamstring so we’ll just wait for the report to see exactly the extent of it.”

The Seagulls will hope to secure victory when they return to the Amex this Sunday, with the side failing to register a win in the WSL since defeating Everton 1-0 at the end of September.

Vidošić highlighted the impact the Albion supporters can have on Sunday’s result, saying: “Hopefully a lot of our fans will be there and be vocal. That will naturally give us some energy and a lift.

“We encourage everyone to stay vocal, try lift our energy and that plays a big, big part. It did last season and hopefully will be likewise on Sunday.”

Brighton’s opponents, Leicester, enter the tie under similar circumstances to the Seagulls.

The midlands outfit are also yet to experience a league victory since September when they defeated Liverpool 1-0 on the opening weekend of the WSL campaign.

Vidošić, however, believes the Foxes’ threat must not be underestimated: “I think they’ve been quite unfortunate.

“I watched them against Tottenham and thought they were very, very good. They were dangerous, created some good chances and on another day are probably winning 2-0, 3-0 at half time…

“They’re a team that are quite direct in their play, very dangerous. If you fall asleep for a second the ball’s in the back of your net so we’ll have to be alert. We have to be ready.”
